Recommended bike tours

As Diano Marina is between sea and mountains, it shows up as a paradise for bikers. In this page we point out just a few tours that we have tried and that for this reason we highly recommend. We remind you that the Trenitalia railway network with its frequent regional trains with bike transport is an excellent support to reach places that otherwise could be too far away. For further information please refer to specialized sites.

**Riviera cycling** - It is a route of about 27 km on a dedicated cycle path that starts from Imperia, passes through San Lorenzo, Santo Stefano, Arma di Taggia, Sanremo and ends in Ospitaletti. It is one of the most beautiful seaside routes in all of Europe. The route is splendid, it uses the old railway line and travels alongside the sea passing through splendid seaside locations. The extension towards Diano Marina and Andora is underway, but at the moment to reach the start of the route you need to cross Imperia. For this purpose we recommend using the Incompiuta when it reopens and taking the new cycle path that you will find at the end of it.

While waiting for the end of the work, the alternative is the Aurelia that passes through Capo Berta (3 km of steep climb). To avoid the Aurelia there is still the provincial road that passes through Diano Calderina and Gorleri that with a few more km has low traffic and not excessive slopes.

A good alternative is to load the bikes in the car and park near the Pam of Imperia Borgo Prino, where there is a large parking lot. or take the train to Imperia or even further.

**Deviation for Cipressa and Poggio** - These are detours that bring to mind the iconic final climbs of the legendary Milan-Sanremo that takes place every year in March. The gradients of the detours require good training but lead to priceless views. To climb Cipressa we recommend you exit the cycle path at Santo Stefano and follow the excellent signs there. From Cipressa you go down a different road returning to the sea just before Santo Stefano. For lunch, among some of the many offers present at the summit, we recommend the Buona Vita bar/restaurant, located just after the central church of Cipressa.

To get the Poggio you have to take the climb, already in the territory of Sanremo, which crosses the cycle path after the Vesca bar. This steep but short climb is also well indicated. Among the many restaurants at the summit, the popular restaurant/bar Monte Calvo can be an excellent solution.

The descent, headlong with beautiful hairpin bends, will take you to the center of Sanremo and back on the cycle path.

**Loop of Diano's** - It is a beautiful route of about 40 km all on a paved road with little traffic, challenging but not too steep. The route is immersed in magnificent nature between olive groves and ancient villages. It starts from Diano Marina and goes up to Diano Castello and then again to Diano Arentino and Evigno, You return passing through Diano Borello, Molteno and Diano San Pietro.

**Loop Chiappa – Villa Faraldi** - This is another beautiful and challenging bike trip of about 30 km on secondary roads full of olive groves. The route starts from the road of San Bartolomeo in the direction of the highway and goes up towards Chiappa and its beautiful valley. With many ups and downs it gets at Villa Faraldi and then it returns to the starting point.
